Head of Chinese observers says Zimbabwe elections "credible"

Source:Forum on China-Africa Cooperation   2013/08/09

HARARE, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Head of Chinese government's five- men observers' team Liu Guijin on Friday said Zimbabwe's elections were peaceful, free, orderly, and fairly credible despite some flaws in the process.

Liu said the observers were impressed by Zimbabweans' enthusiasm to participate in the polls as well as the professionalism of the election officers.

Liu said he hoped the elections could turn a new chapter in modern Zimbabwe's history that the country would embark on the road of development and prosperity.

He urged political parties which have reservations about the electoral process not to resort to violence but rely on legal channels to vent the dissatisfaction.
